Think Outside The Lunchbox: Simple Snacking

Welcome to week three of “Think Outside The Lunchbox”! Now that we are half way through our mini-series Hannah and I want to know what meal/topic you’d like us to cover! Please leave your suggestions in the comment section below!

Making a list of my five favorite snacks seemed easy-peasy! I had no doubt this post would be one I wrote in one sitting. Boy, was I wrong! I usually just eat whatever my mom packs in my lunchbox (sad, I know) so I went to the expert herself for help with making a list of my five favorite allergy friendly snacks. Hannah put together a list of snacks that make me wish I wasn’t allergic to gluten. Most of our snacks can be found at your local grocery or superstore. Just in case they are hard to find in your area, click on the name of the snack and it will take you to the company’s website where you can purchase these snacks online!
Happy snacking!

1. Boom Chicka Pop: 35 calories per serving
There are 12 different flavors- one for every craving!
2. Kind Granola Bars: 150 calories per bar
Basically Kind anything is delicious and gluten free. Kind brand products are a staple in my diet.
3. Mini Clif Bars: 100 calories per bar
Being gluten free and a vegetarian, its hard to eat out. When I’m out running errands or shopping, I like to keep a mini Clif Bar in my bag or purse to keep me tied over in between meals.
4. Sabra Hummus: 80 calories per serving
Normally I end up buying the individual hummus packages because I eat the whole family sized tub in one sitting….
5. Nature’s Path Sunrise Crunchy Vanilla: 110 calories per serving
My love for this crunchy and sweet snack is unreal. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner (or late night snack) this gluten free cereal is my go to.

1. Cut-up Vegetables- Depending on the vegetable, bell peppers are approx. 25 calories per serving
Bell peppers are barely any calories, so these slices are the perfect snack for mindlessly munching on while watching TV or doing homework.

2. Annie’s Organics– Annie’s fruit snacks 70 calories per package
I always carry a package of Annie’s in my purse in case in feeling low on energy. The fruit sugar gives me the perfect boost, but beware, these fruit snacks are so additive and you will want to eat like 12 packages at a time…trust me. I know from experience.

3. FIber One Brownies– 90 calories per brownies
When that inevitable chocolate craving hits, don’t pig out and ruin you healthy eating for the day! Instead, try this low calorie brownie! You sweet tooth will be satisfied and you’ll stay guilt free!

4. The Good Bean Smoky Chili & Lime Chickpeas– 120 calories per serving
I just discovered this yummy snack! The chili-lime flavor is anything but bland and I definitely find myself snacking on this a little too much!

5. Pirates Booty130 calories per serving
These baked cheese puffs are what I would describe as the healthy Cheetos. Pirates Booty is my go to snack during break at school.

Hannah and I have covered basically every craving from salty to sweet! We hope you find something in this post that meets your taste bud’s fancy.

Remember: everything is okay in moderation, including the skin you show!

Eat well, snack often, and keep things covered up.

XOX,
TQC
