As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I had scholarship interviews over the past weekend. The two day event began with a fantastic dinner in Athletic and Conference Center (pictured below) on Friday night. High Point gave us some amazing goodies before dinner started, but I’ll blog about that after the second weekend has passed. I don’t want to ruin the surprise! I believe my interview went well! I mean, we talked about Lilly Pulitzer and her impact on society so obviously the interview was pretty great!
For dinner, I wore my favorite black dress from Guess, a Robin’s egg blue Karen Kane sweater, a Lilly Pulitzer scarf, my Cole Haan nude heels, and my favorite mini monogram necklace from Moon and Lola! (And of course my pantyhose! I ripped a pair putting them on before dinner… I’m oh so glad I brought two pairs!)
Both pictures were taken inside HPU’s stunning Wanek Center
I had the opportunity to meet two of my lovely classmates who previously slid into my DM’s (direct messages) on Facebook: Julia and Emmi!
The pictures about were taken outside of the Wanek Center… one my favorite buildings!
Emmi, the blonde one, just so happens to live in a town right on my drive home from North Carolina so she stayed the weekend with me! Due to the extreme weather (and thick layers of ice everywhere) we have been stuck in North Carolina. Our trip has already been extended two days and it looks like we won’t be able to leave until Thursday. Oh well! There are worse places, and people, to be stranded at and with!
My extremely talented friend Kayla just so happens to go to HPU and is a Media Fellow studying Strategic Communications (basically the career path I hope to go down!). We work at MTV Insights together and were Her Campus High School Ambassadors together last year. She so graciously took my friends and I around campus, showed us her dorm, introduced me to a few older students in the Media Fellows Program, and interviewed me for her film project.
In the background of this photo is HPU’s Roberts Hall. (It is the building in the school’s logo)
Last October, I stumbled upon Austin’s blog and reached out to him. I have always been eager to pick current student’s minds to figure out the ins and outs of High Point. Luckily, Austin is passionate about all things HPU and willingly answered my questions. Over the weekend, I was able to finally meet Austin in person. He is the Freshman Class President and my friends and I felt like VIPs when he showed us around campus!
Picture above is my new “Squad” of friends! We stuck together practically all day Saturday.
I wore heels for my interview of Saturday but switched into my gold Keds for walking around campus. Definitely one of my brighter ideas! My dress is from Lilly Pulitzer, of course! I added my pop of pink with a Kate Spade bracelet and an initial ring from Kate Spade Saturday.
All in all, my weekend was successful! I met wonderful people, ate amazing food (post to come), and spent time in my most favorite place. I never thought I would be invited to HPU’s Presidential Scholarship Weekend. Actually being there on campus was literally a dream come true. And yes, there were tears involved. Many, many tears.
Never give up on your dreams. For the moment they become reality, you will never regret what you gave up to reach them.
Keep things covered up!
