How often do you scroll through Instagram and see a selfie? Or an OOTD (outfit of the day) post? What about a MCM (man crush Monday) or WCW (woman crush Wednesday)? Do you ignore the picture, like the picture, or comment on the picture? The Celebrate Yourself Challenge’s #SpreadPostivity activity is all about building up the confidence of those around us. Feburary’s activity just so happens to focus on spreading positivity on social media through sincere, positive compliments.
When complimenting others, we oftentimes add in a snarky comment that contradicts our statement. Avoid leaving someone to think “What is that supposed to mean?” by staying about from microaggressions: “You’re really good at __ for a girl” or “Your body looks great for someone of your size.” A sincere compliment comes from the heart. When writing out a compliment, keep in mind what you would like to hear! Visit the Celebrate Yourself Challenge: Week 2 post for a list of positive descriptive words!
