393 Days Later…

393 days ago my life changed forever. 393 days later I met, in person, the young woman who would ultimately go on to impact my life in ways I never new were possible. Okay, yes I am aware of how cheesy that last sentences sound. Just bear with me through the mush and gush.
Last Summer, I attended the Smart Girls Group’s Live Smart NYC conference. I was the company’s Head of New Media, where I managed a team of brilliant and talented young woman who ran SGG’s social media sights. Before I held this position, I was one of SGG’s health and wellness writers, along side Hannah. For some really weird reason, Hannah and I did not realize that we were both the Health and Wellness writers and that we were both HerCampus High School Ambassadors when we first met in person. It just did not click. I remember our first real-life conversation… we decided that we had to be college roommates because we were just too similar. Unfortunately, we both decided to attend colleges close to home and had to give up on that dream. Talking to her felt like talking to myself. It was crazy and magical all at the same time.  From the moment we met, we became inseparable… or should I say inseparable to our phones.

An infinite amount of handwritten letters, weekend FaceTime dates, endless phone conversations, and countless text messages has made it seem like it was only yesterday that I saw Hannah. I am grateful to have someone who is only a phone call away when I need a good laugh, someone to listen to my tears, or when I just need a friend.
From the West Coast to the East Coast, our uncanny bond began to bring us closer together, despite the distance and time-zone change. I remember thinking to myself, “How can I become this close of friends with a girl who lives nearly 3,000 miles away?” Our friendship was unlike anything I have ever experienced. It is better. It always has been.
393 days, 2,800 miles, and a three-hour time zone difference later, and I am finally reunited with my blogger bestie, Miss. Hannah! I absolutely cannot wait for the memories I am about to create while in California! I am incredibly thankful that I have the most amazing parents who have enough faith in me to send their only daughter all the way across the country to stay with a girl they hardly even know.

  2. […] Hannah and I live on separate coasts and separate time zones. Its difficult for us to find time in our super busy schedules to sit down for a phone call during the week. Instead, I write down fun memories and important things I want to tell her in our shared notebook. Its a stress-reducer and is a positive escape from the stresses of studying. […]
